At the age of 12 he was already on stage with musicians of the New Orleans jazz scene - today Martin Röttger is one of the most sought-after cajon players in Europe. He has established the Peruvian percussion instrument "cajon" as a full-fledged substitute for the drum kit and has accompanied numerous national and international stars on more than 1000 concerts: from Louisiana Red, Chuck Berry and Toni Sheridan to Tom Shaka, Vince Weber, Steve Baker, Rainer Baumann, Abi Wallenstein, Axel Zwingenberger or Chris Jones. He played as support act for Robben Ford, Spencer Davis Group, Junior Wells, to name but a few.

As a freelance cajon teacher, Martin Röttger can draw on more than 12 years of practical experience. He was one of the first to discover the versatile application possibilities of the Cajon. Martin Röttger developed his own style and his way of playing is today considered a pioneering work when it comes to using the cajon as a drum set.
